2016 Kickstarters Gascoyne Dash

It is with great sorrow that the Gascoyne Off Road Racing Club wishes to inform you that due to low confirmed entries the 2016 Kickstarters Gascoyne Dash will not be held as it is not economically viable.

This decision has not been made lightly, however it does give the committee the opportunity to reinvigorate the event.

All entry fees that have been paid will be reimbursed in full. Deb will be in touch to get your bank details and confirm the amounts paid.

Rest assured that this is not the end of the Gascoyne Dash and we will have exciting news for everyone in the near future.

The Gascoyne Off Road Racing Club would like to thank everyone for their support and we look forward to growing the relationship in the years to come.

2012 Race Changes

Ted Schultz and Paul Kelly visited Waddy Robinson of Doorawarrah Station to discuss track changes for 2012. The "old" Doorawarrah fuel stop has disappeared at the 2010 Flood and this necessitates a change.

The fuel point is now likely to be several kilometres down river of its current site and will now be the exit from the river section. Car competitors will have a 10 minute time allowance to inflate tyres at this stop but otherwise the break will be parc ferme until the end of time allowance.

Doorawarrah Station will play an important role in possible major changes to the 2013 track with plans to start the race at Carnarvon Race Club, overnight at Coonatha and back to finish at Carnarvon Race Club on Sunday. This will increase race distance to 650-700 kilometres split fairly evenly over the two days of racing. Race Director Paul Kelly explains "Our planned change gives the race much more balance, don't worry we will have all the testing day one course but that track will be used in two sections to finish day one and start day two".

The 2013 changes are in line with the Club's strategy plan to increase the quantity and quality of the field to 300 bikes and 50 cars. Additionally strategies are being formulated around tourism appeal and economic benefit to Carnarvon and the region. Mr Kelly emphasised the need to evolve the event "To provide a compelling reason to compete we need to offer the most outstanding racing opportunity in Australia, our track is our strength but it needed to be balanced. The changed format will also enable many competitors wish to bring their families and friends and not require to camp for several days".

"Access to good quality viewing points within easy reach of Carnarvon is also a priority as is offering other tourism experiences not related to racing" Mr Kelly explained.
