2016 Kickstarters Gascoyne Dash

It is with great sorrow that the Gascoyne Off Road Racing Club wishes to inform you that due to low confirmed entries the 2016 Kickstarters Gascoyne Dash will not be held as it is not economically viable.

This decision has not been made lightly, however it does give the committee the opportunity to reinvigorate the event.

All entry fees that have been paid will be reimbursed in full. Deb will be in touch to get your bank details and confirm the amounts paid.

Rest assured that this is not the end of the Gascoyne Dash and we will have exciting news for everyone in the near future.

The Gascoyne Off Road Racing Club would like to thank everyone for their support and we look forward to growing the relationship in the years to come.

The ADVENTURE continues!

Steadman's Bat wins Hyden 400

Posted on 15.04.2012

Hail the victor, Justin Steadman in his Bat Pro Buggy won the 2012 ARB - Total Asphalt & Traffic Management Hyden 400 on the Easter long weekend. The win sets Steadman at the top of the 2012 State Championship race with 3 rounds to go.

The Bat Pro Buggy performed flawlessly all weekend at this reliability and some great driving by Steadman saw the team win by less than 30 seconds from Eric and Neil Phillips in the #96 Ballistic Racing Aceco. The weekend had some funny stories and the Steadman with new nav Andrew McCarthy added to the humour by deciding to pit rather than continue their second lap on Saturday, we wonder if this was for McCarthy to change race suits.

Club stalwarts Ted Schultz and Rick Andreoli in the 736 Production Class Jeep had a successful weekend guiding the Jeep into second place in Class. The time deficit behind winner Jason Galea may have been much narrower if racing with a full tank of full had have been considered.

The big yellow Carnarvon Nissan of Paul Kelly and Julian Andreoli completed the gruelling course, the last 80kms without the aid of power steering which made negotiating the tight twisty sections adventurous. The big Nissan is now in need of some body work following a bump in the dust and threading the car through a tight grove of trees; Kelly was heard muttering something about navigators and glasses. At about the same time Andreoli was talking of driver error until Ted Schultz corrected him about the 10 rules of offroad racing – rule one being it must be navigator error with rules 2 to 10 referring back to rule one.

The attrition rate over the weekend was huge with only 17 of the 41 starters finishing the race. This GORRC members not to finish included Brad Krepp in the beautifully prepared 823 Nissan Patrol that crashed out in spectacle style rolling multiple times; Brad and his nav Scott Elder escaped uninjured. Geraldton’s Andrew Tilley and Sean Fitzpatrick, who made their racing debut in the ex Pickersgill Class 7 Landcruiser, were circulating competitively until a mechanical gremlin finished their weekend.

The GORRC competitors congratulate Western Desert Racers for a well organised and enjoyable weekend. The Club also wishes WDR every success in their pursuit of a super series round in 2013.

The next round of the State Championships is at Bencubbin for the running of Bencubbin 300. Expect a big turn out of GORRC members with several Suzuki teams to nominate and rumours about the Carnarvon Cabinet Makers team extending its influence beyond the Dash. The Renton Jimco, Barrett Prolite, the new owners of the ex Barrett blue Jeep are all to fire a shot in 2012.
