2016 Kickstarters Gascoyne Dash

It is with great sorrow that the Gascoyne Off Road Racing Club wishes to inform you that due to low confirmed entries the 2016 Kickstarters Gascoyne Dash will not be held as it is not economically viable.

This decision has not been made lightly, however it does give the committee the opportunity to reinvigorate the event.

All entry fees that have been paid will be reimbursed in full. Deb will be in touch to get your bank details and confirm the amounts paid.

Rest assured that this is not the end of the Gascoyne Dash and we will have exciting news for everyone in the near future.

The Gascoyne Off Road Racing Club would like to thank everyone for their support and we look forward to growing the relationship in the years to come.

Introduce 2014 Club Committee

I would like to introduce myself, David Kearney as the new President of the Gascoyne Offroad Racing Club Inc and to welcome our 2014 committee.

The Vice Presidents position has been filled by Brett Renton, the Treasurer is Peter Barrett, the Secretary is Deb Cowan and currently have two committee members being Rick Andreoli and Craig Carson.

We are looking for interested and motivated persons to fill the two vacant committee positions to manage club activities including the delivery of the 2014 Kickstarters Gascoyne Dash.

I would like to thank Paul Kelly and Ted Shultz who have both stepped down this year to have some hard earned rest from the organising and management of the Club and Dash event.

Paul was been our long serving Event Director for 12 years and has held continuous board positions including President. Paul was the driver of WA Tourism Award participation which has yielded many finalist and awards including the Gold Medal in 2012. Paul secured the BBC participation in 2011 with Ben Fogel's Year of Adventures, he was the key influencer in securing TV coverage and major national magazine coverage for many years. The numerous grants and high yield activities were negotiated and executed by Paul.

Ted joined the Board in 2005 and served as President for most of that time. Ted was the face of the Gascoyne Dash and Club at the many state car events he participated and won state class champion several times.

Paul and Ted have overseen the transformation of the Dash from a "rough diamond" to the professional event it is today.

Many thanks also go to Shane Bryan who was a Board member over several years and thanks to Zane Mogg and Ian Howell who completed part terms in 2013.

As always a big thanks goes to all the volunteers who have assisted with the event and we look forward to your assistance with this year’s event as well. We need volunteers to make this event possible and without you it will not go ahead. For the 2014 event we are planning to have two days racing from Coonatha on Bidgemia Station in the same format as last year whilst taking in some course changes to allow for some more spectator viewing and to freshen up the course. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Lochie and Jane McTaggart and Hamish and Jodie McTaggart for their past and continued support. I would also like to thank our other pastoral partners Jimba Jimba, Doorawarrah and Brickhouse stations for their past and continued support. Acknowledgement of financial and in kind contributions from the Shires of Upper Gascoyne and Carnarvon are much appreciated.  In 2014 we welcome our new major sponsors Horizon Power and we acknowledge the contribution of all our sponsors and look forward to our continued association - the Dash is great business for Carnarvon and the Gascoyne.

We are currently planning on holding the event from the 30th October – 2nd November. The supplementary regulations are currently being prepared and once they are submitted to MWA and CAMS and are approved we will confirm the race dates for 2014 and we will be able to open the entries. We will let you know when the dates are confirmed and that the entries are open with another newsletter.

As for myself I have been a competitor at the event for the past 9 years and I hope to compete this year to round out the 10. I have previously been on the Club board and have had the last two years off and I now hope that I can help this event grow into the future and with the help and support of the board members, volunteers and community members we can continue to deliver one of the best offroad races in Australia.

Bring on the 2014 Dash...............
