2016 Kickstarters Gascoyne Dash

It is with great sorrow that the Gascoyne Off Road Racing Club wishes to inform you that due to low confirmed entries the 2016 Kickstarters Gascoyne Dash will not be held as it is not economically viable.

This decision has not been made lightly, however it does give the committee the opportunity to reinvigorate the event.

All entry fees that have been paid will be reimbursed in full. Deb will be in touch to get your bank details and confirm the amounts paid.

Rest assured that this is not the end of the Gascoyne Dash and we will have exciting news for everyone in the near future.

The Gascoyne Off Road Racing Club would like to thank everyone for their support and we look forward to growing the relationship in the years to come.

The ADVENTURE continues!

Dash wins Gold at 2012 WA Tourism Awards

Posted on 12.11.2012

The Kickstarters Gascoyne Dash won the gold award in the Festivals and Events category at the 2012 WA Tourism Awards.

The Dash was against 5 other finalist in the category and beat Fremantle Street Art Festival and the Taste Great Southern to the prestigious gold award.

In accepting the award Event Director Paul Kelly highlighted that the Dash event is wholly volunteer based event and asked the 850 crowd to applaud the volunteers.

Mr Kelly said "It was evening made even more special by having other Carnarvon finalists - Shire of Carnarvon, Fish and Whistle Backpackers and Gwoonwardu Mia sitting at the same table, with each and everyone of them coming away with award recognition"

When asked what affect this presitigous award will have on the Dash Mr Kelly said "The award validates the Dash as being one of the best events in WA; it is something all those involved, at whatever level can feel very proud of. The award also provide significant credibility when approaching sponsors. The award process not only recognises the event but also everything behind the scenes, that is business planning, risk management and a myriad of other elements that make an event possible - all things that sponsors want to know are right".

Mr Kelly also commented "The 850 attendees at the awards evening now know about desert racing; this is great news for the Dash and the offroad sport in general. Our sport needs to be promoting itself at the highest level and the submission based process to enter the tourism wards or a business award allows organisers to critically assess their event. I think the sport needs to look beyond the actual racing side to identify and offer a wide range of experiences. To quote one very happy visitor to the 2012 event;

This was my first time at The Dash, a friend and I ran away from our husbands and families for a week. We had the best time ever!

I am not a car or bike enthusiast (to me a vehicles purpose is get me from A to B with no hassle) but this weekend was exhilarating.......  I had never been to the “Outback” (that is bad considering I have lived in WA all my life)..... Thanks again for a memorable weekend"

In winning the Gold award the Kickstarters Gascoyne Dash is now a finalist in the pinnacle event - the Australian Tourism Awards to be held in Hobart in February 2013.

The Dash thanks Eventscorp - Royalties for Regions, Shire of Carnarvon, Shire of Upper Gascoyne, Junction Contracting Services and all its sponsors. A special thanks to Skippers Aviation who made the Dash's attendance at the 2012 WA Tourism Awards possible with airfare sponsorship.
