The Kickstarters Gascoyne Dash® is looking for volunteers to help with its 2009 Event.
Paul Kelly, Event Manager explained what the Event needs “we are looking for helpers at all levels from officials, people to man checkpoints, first aiders, bar and catering staff”. What’s in it for volunteers we asked Mr. Kelly “First and foremost be prepared to have fun; there are sights and sounds you will not experience in your everyday life. Our race complex north of Gascoyne Junction boasts a huge shade area, professional kitchen and bar, hot and cold running water and toilets. Accommodation is camping and given the weather in late October is pleasantly warm a simple swag is is all you need together will your hat and sunscreen”.
Are special skills or training required ?“No we provide training and guidance for all our volunteers. We hope to have a training course for the motorbike side of the sport later this year and our car peak body CAMS is to host a scrutineers course in Carnarvon shortly. Last year we enrolled 17 of our volunteers in a CAMS general official course and the course recognition can enable our people to participate as an official at any CAMS event in Australia; that’s right up to V8 Super Cars at Bathurst” Mr Kelly advised.
