Carnarvon to Gascoyne Junction (Coonatha Race Complex)

Leave the sea side town of Carnarvon on Robinson Street past Caltex Star Mart Roadhouse north for approx 8kms, turn right into Carnarvon Mullewa Road (the Kingsford-Smith Run Mail Road) and proceed to Gascoyne Junction; a trip of approx. 180 kms.

Please exercise care as cattle, roos etc are common place.

Enjoy a stop and a swim at delightful Rocky Pool (approx 40kms along). The Carnarvon Mullewa Road is sealed for most of its length with a gravel section of approx 27 kms in the middle; be careful.

Whilst at Gascoyne Junction enjoy a cold drink or meal at the Junction Hotel before proceeding to the Ullawarra Road turnoff over the Gascoyne River, travel approx 28km and turn right into the Coonatha Race Camp which is situated 5 kms from the road. Please check in at the Entry Ticket Box and receive directions to a suitable camping site.

Wooramel (home of the Wooramel 300)

Wooramel is approximately 120 kms south of Carnarvon on the Northwest Coastal Highway. The entrance to Wooramel Station is approximately 1.5 kms from the Wooramel River Bridge. Once you enter the property please take care as it is a working station and home to a young family. Your hosts are Justin and Rachael Steadman and their children Archer, Evie and Adelaide.

Please respect the very gracious gift of the station owners by not entering any sheds or houses and observing no go areas.

Camping is the order of the day so bring your swag and tent. The Carnarvon School of the Air are operating a bar and cooking for the weekend. As there is no power available to campers we strongly recommend to take advantage of the catering. Wooramel 300 Catering Menu
