Club Awards

The life blood of our sport is our volunteers; without our volunteers we would have a lot of very expensive cars and bikes sitting idle. The Club rewards volunteers who have gone the extra step in supporting our Club and Events. At our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 31 March 2010 we welcomed the inaugural inductees to the Gascoyne Offroad Racing Club Club Awards Category. Please welcome the following recipients

Club Award Category

  • Trevor "Cookie" Cook - Cookie was one of the founders of the Dash, he worked on the original track and infrastructure, event management, event official. Cookie is generally regarded as the original "Mr Gascoyne Dash"

  • Peter "Broadie" Broad - like Trevor Peter worked on the original track and infrastructure. Peter is still a regular at the Dash and undertakes track sweeping

  • Garry "Larso" Larsen - Garry and his business Arkco Engineering are synonymous with the Dash. Garry (and his family) worked tirelessly on all aspects of the Dash and he had his hand in all infrastructure projects. Garry has been our Race Director for several years and is a familiar sight at Race Command passing orders over radios to checkpoints and aircraft.

  • Lachlan and Jane McTaggart - Well if Cookie, Boardie and Larso had a vision it was Lochie and Jane who had the land - Bidgemia Station and shared a passion to make the Dash an iconic WA sporting event. Lochie flew his aircraft to map the original track and has provided plant & equipment, wise words and a great sense of humour. Jane has supported us all the way and has had to listen to many evenings of guys around tables planning big things.

The Gascoyne Offroad Road Racing Club Inc board and members gratefully acknowledge our inaugural Club Awards recipients and we look forward to many more years of association.
